How many yards of fabric will i need to make a 54" x 84" curtain panel?

If you are using triple fullness, and the fabric has no pattern repeat, proceed as follows:
bracket to bracket width (plus overlap if there is one, [ and returns) x 3
divide that figure by the width of the fabric = number of cuts (round up fractions over half)
finished length + double hem (would use a minimum of a 4" hem, therefore add 8") + heading (if you
are doing a pleated top, add another 8", if you are doing a rod pocket figure the circumference
of the rod, plus 1/2" for ease x 2) = cut length
cut length x number of cuts = yardage needed to finish job
if the fabric has a pattern

repeat, take the cut length and divide by the length of the pattern repeat
and round up ANY fraction, this becomes your NEW cut length, proceed normally
So for instance, if there is no overlap (you are making a single panel rather than a pair), your fabric is 54" wide and there is no pattern repeat, then your answer would be 8.5 yards. ]
