The slope of the line that contains the points (-5, 3) and (-1, -5) is slope = (-5-3)/(-1+5) = -8/4 = -2

3x + 15 = -6;
3x = -6 - 15;
3x = -21;
x = -21/3;
x = -7

3x + 15 = 6;
