Explain the three stages of memory. How might understanding how our memory works help us learn?
Weegy: The three stages of memory are encoding, storage and retrieval. [ Encoding is the process of putting something into memory (manipulating it in your working memory (also inaccurately called short-term memory). Storage is the stage where the information is in your brain but is not being actively manipulated. Retrieval is the point where based on retrieval cues you have available, you bring a memory out of long-term storage and into your conscious awareness. Sensory memory, short-term memory (Working memory), and long-term memory are three very general TYPES of memory, not stages of memory. Understanding how your memory works can help you learn by knowing which type of learning makes the thing you have learned stick in your mind. Once you know this you can countinue learning the way you feel helps you remember it. Read more: ] (More)

what are some negative example of when your memory has affected your ability to learn?
Weegy: Sometimes your memory hurts you because you remember so many instances of a thing that you come to believe it is true, but these memories can be inaccurate or biased, so they hinder you in finding out the truth of a matter. [ Also, sometimes you remember so many things that you get all your thoughts confused so that the thing you think you remembered for one subject, was actually about something else. ] (More)
