User: How do you program a new ignition key for a 2003 Chevy Impala? 2003 impala wont start, Need change ignition what i need to do.

Weegy: Having problems with the Passlock system aka Theft System? To program a new key and cylinder after you have installed them you will need to attempt to start the car. It will not start but keep the key in the ON position. Theft system light should be flashing. It will flash for about 10 minutes, stay on and then go off. Once it goes off, turn the key to the OFF position and wait 10 seconds. Now start the car. The new key and cylinder should now be programmed. If so happen to be having problems with the Passlock system and the car not starting, then replacing the key and cylinder will not solve your problem. The problem is the connector and the connecting pins. The connecting pins are made of tin so they are prone to oxidation which in turn causes a fault in the ignition and triggers the theft system.
