Who does Elena end up with in The Vampire Diaries? the books

Answer
There are more books to come, so it's still open. However, one of the reasons L.J. Smith was fired from the series is that she wanted a Damon/Elena relationship (she was still undecided on the endgame), and the publishers wanted Stefan. So I'd put my money on that.
