How do i remove the radio from my 1997 gmc jimmy?Weegy:
This is a difficult one, because the shifter and steering column cover tends to get in the way. It's easy to break the hazard switch if you try to remove the dash panel entirely. Tilt steering helps a little.
There's a quick-and-dirty way, and a long but safe way.
Quick and dirty: Remove the screws that hold the driver's knee panel in place. Pop it loose enough that you can get to the screws underneath that hold the main dash panel, on both sides of the steering column. Remove the screw above the instrument cluster.
Pull the main dash panel free, but don't try to remove it entirely. If it's loose, you should be able to get to the four screws that hold the AC control in place. Remove these screws, then remove the four screws that hold the factory radio and pocket assembly.
It's possible to flex the dash panel enough to let you work the factory radio and pocket out and remove it. Be careful, though--flex too far and you'll break the panel.
The long and safe way:
Remove the noise panels: the one directly above the driver's feet, and the long one to the right. You'll need to remove several screws.
Reach up and disconnect the parking brake release cable from the parking brake assembly. Remove the driver's knee panel.
Remove the two screws holding the dash panel, on each side of the steering column, and the one above the instrument cluster.
Looking up at the bottom of the steering column, you'll see two large bolts that hold up the steering column assembly. Remove the two nuts so you can lower the entire steering column out of the way. I think they're 17mm.
Set your parking brake, turn the key to the "run" position and shift into the lowest gear to get the shift lever out of the way. At this point, it should be pretty easy to remove the entire dash panel. Shift back into park and turn the key off.
Remove the screws that hold the climate controls, move it out of the way, then take out the four screws that hold the radio and pocket assembly.Auto Answered|Score 1Weegy:
