Describe briefly the theory behind man-caused global warming. Include a list of some of the gases that are believed to contribute to global warming
Weegy: Essentially, ask any climatologist and they will tell you that man's excessive waste and pollution is spewing millions of tonnes of greenhouse gases into our atmosphere. [ Definition of a greenhouse gases, according to wiki, are "gases in an atmosphere that absorb and emit radiation within the thermal infrared range." Basically, they absorb heat. H2O also counts as a greenhouse gas, apparently. The average temperature of the Earth's surface, is 15 degrees Celsius. The sun, on average, provides enough warmth to heat up the Earth's surface to 30 degrees Celsius. But nearly half of that heat is bounced back up into space. Greenhouse gases absorb the heat, and release some of it back onto Earth, increasing the surface temperature. There have always been greenhouse gases in our atmosphere, but with the start of the industrial period (1750s), the amount of it in our atmosphere has increased proportionally. Most common greenhouse gases: Water vapour, CO2, Nitrous oxide, ozone and methane (about a third of which is released from the belch of a cow). To sum up: Burning fossil fuels releases carbon dioxide (CO2) that has been stored away underground for millions of years. This adds extra CO2 that the normal carbon cycle can't move out of the atmosphere. Deforestation has removed millions of trees all over the world that used to absorb and store carbon. All this means that the atmosphere is overloaded with greenhouse gases which are warming the earth. This global warming is causing climate change. ] (More)

What is the evidence that global warming is either not occurring or is not caused by humans
Weegy: "Most of the increase in the air's concentration of greenhouse gases from human activities--over 80 percent--occurred after the 1940s. [ That means that the strong early 20th century warming must be largely, if not entirely, natural."[26]"The coincident changes in the sun's changing energy output and temperature records on earth tend to argue that the sun has driven a major portion of the 20th century temperature change."[26] "[T]he recent warming trend in the surface temperature record cannot be caused by the increase of human-made greenhouse gases in the air."[27]"One can have surface warming from a variety of reasons. So the key layer of air to look at is the one-to-five-mile up layer of air. ... Now, this is the layer of air sensitive to the human-made warming effect, and the layer that must warm at least as much as the surface according to the computer simulations. Yet, the projected warming from human activities can't be found in the low troposphere in any great degree."[26] And another theory: * Ian Clark, hydrogeologist, professor, Department of Earth Sciences, University of Ottawa: "That portion of the scientific community that attributes climate warming to CO2 relies on the hypothesis that increasing CO2, which is in fact a minor greenhouse gas, triggers a much larger water vapour response to warm the atmosphere. This mechanism has never been tested scientifically beyond the mathematical models that predict extensive warming, and are confounded by the complexity of cloud formation – which has a cooling effect. ... We know that [the sun] was responsible for climate change in the past, and so is clearly going to play the lead role in present and future climate change. And interestingly... solar activity has recently begun a downward cycle."[29] source: en.wikipedia ] (More)

Based on your research, summarize your own beliefs regarding the issue of global warming, if it is or is not occurring, if it is or is not caused by human activity, and what if anything we should be doing about the problem.
Weegy: I think global warming is a big issue, that we must give solution and it is definitely occurring right now. most of the people right now is not really concerned about this, ad (More)
