What can I do to promote tolerance and reduce prejudice in my home town?
Weegy: to treat the beliefs of others with respect. Of course, this begins with ourselves, even though we probably believe that our own beliefs are the only truth. [ [ If others in the community are displaying intolerance towards your beliefs, it is wise not to respond in kind. Demonstrate confidence in your beliefs, but try to move the subject on to other matters. To treat the beliefs of others with respect really does mean accepting thoses beliefs as equally valid. That's the hard part. But someone has to make a start, and set an example for others in society. Interacial and interfaith marriages can be an extraordinarily important way of breaking down barriers. first and best step?... come OUT of the closet !! ... If EVERY person who is gay, bisexual, lesbian or otherwise NOT heterosexual were to live openly and honestly... the prejudice would disappear... because the truth would become so BLINDINGLY evident... that gay people come from ALL walks of life, live in ALL cities and are a part of everyone's life already ( even if you don't know it )... after everyone were to pick their jaw up off the floor from the "oh my god HE'S gay??".... life would get much better... each of us teach our families and so many people around us just by coming out, that the stereotypes aren't true... ] ] (More)
