square root x + 4 = 10
It can be written as vx + 4 = 10
Squaring the both sides gives x + 4 = 100
x = 100 - 4 = 96
Added 1/13/2013 12:37:49 AM
sqrt(x)+4 = 10;
sqrt(x) = 10-4;
sqrt(x) = 6;
x = 36

Added 2 days ago|4/18/2014 1:03:52 PM
why is my answer incorrect? What I understood is the user meant the square root of (x and 4) while your understanding is that it's only the square root of x.
Added 1 day ago|4/18/2014 10:46:03 PM
@yeswey, Although I am not good as you in mathematics, but in your way of solving it's answer should also be 36. Because, in your workout, if vx + 4 = 10 then vx = 10-4 = 6 and then x = 36.

I have checked it through the trusted online math calculator which also confirms the same answer. Please check my solution link and you will get the details.
