Why do we need management?
Weegy: A business is an ongoing activity that doesn't run itself. As the manager you will have to set goals, determine how to reach those goals and make all the necessary decisions. [ You will have to purchase or make your product, price it, advertise it and sell it. You will have to keep records, and determine costs. You will have to control inventory, make the right buying decisions and keep costs down. You will have to hire, train and motivate employees now or as you grow. Good business management is the key to success and good management starts with setting goals. Set goals for yourself for the accomplishment of the many tasks necessary in starting and managing your business successfully. Be specific. Write down the goals in measurable terms of performance. Break major goals down into sub-goals, showing what you expect to achieve in the next two to three months, the next six months, the next year, and the next five years. Beside each goal and sub-goal place a specific date showing when it is to be achieved. ] (More)

Describe the key functions of management and why these are important. User: Evaluate your own abilities in these functions. Where do you see your current strengths and areas for opportunity?
Weegy: Evaluation is a valuable process that begins before the rotation starts and integrates fully with the entire learning experience. [ The result of a well-integrated evaluation process is an enhanced learning experience for the student and increased satisfaction for the preceptor. Integrating evaluation into the entire educational experience and linking it with other important teaching skills, such as setting expectations and providing effective feedback, can actually make a difficult task easier and more effective. Many preceptors find evaluation to be an unpleasant task associated with their community-based teaching. They enjoy teaching, but dislike having to “grade” their learners. The occasional difficult situation resulting from conflict over a grade can leave an unpleasant aftertaste. If evaluation was just “giving a grade” it would hardly be worth it for the preceptor. This monograph provides additional discussion on the importance and benefits of evaluation and a practical roadmap to the process of evaluating learners, starting before the rotation begins and continuing throughout the entire clinical experience. The goals for this monograph are to: 1. Review characteristics of evaluation and discuss why it is important. 2. Discuss pitfalls in the evaluation process. 3. Outline a practical system for effective evaluation. ] (More)

Give a brief outline of Guthrie's ideas. Which ideas make the most sense to you and why?
Weegy: Guthrie's learning theory was based upon the idea that a stimulus followed by a certain response would, when the stimulus was repeated, elicit the same response. This would take place regardless of rewards or punishments. [ This was a major departure from the conditioning theories that had dominated cognitive psychology. Guthrie also believed that once a connection was made between stimulus and response, it would remain, and did not need to be strengthened by repetition ("reinforced," to use the terminology of cognitive psychologists.) Everything being equal, people will respond to stimuli in the way that they most recently did. The only reason that it would be forgotten would be because of external interference (i.e., more stimuli). This was known as the "contiguity principle," and it argued that all of human learning was based upon the association between stimulus and response. ........... ] (More)

Give a brief outline of Skinner's ideas. Which ideas make the most sense to you and why?
Weegy: Known as the father of Operant Conditioning, B.F. Skinner 's theoretical foundations are the result of Skinner's studies on Thorndike's Law of Effect (1905). [ This law contended that there are specific reactions to specific stimuli, particularly seen in animals. Using this law, Skinner coined the term "operant conditioning" which entails that behavior can be manipulated, changed, or transformed through a specific set of procedures. In Skinner's theory, the interventions that aid the conditioning of behavior come in three forms: Neutral stimulus- an intervention, stimulus or strategy that does not impact behavior, hence, does not condition or change it. For example, unsolicited advice, boredom, lack of interest, or blank feedback does not change behavior in any way. - See more at: ] User: Of these two theorists (Guthrie and Skinner) which one do you agree with most and why?
