what are the example of divergent question for elementary?
Weegy: Questioning is a common talk delivered by teachers in the classroom. In fact, questioning is assumed as an easy way to ask students. Unfortunately, it plays a significant role to create a good atmosphere in learning. [ That is why, teachers need to know how to deliver a good question. In my Classroom Language Strategies (CLS) course, I learned how to deliver a good questions. These are some techniques of questioning that teachers can use in the classroom. Divergent and convergent questions: In what way are they different? Convergent question requires students to answer based on what is stated on the book. It means that the possible or accepted answers are already provided in the book materials. In other word, this kind of question does not require varieties responses. Students are only focus on the information on the book. For example of convergent question: “What are the characteristics of good questions based on your textbook page 87 ” That example shows that the possible/accepted answers can be found only on the textbook. Students do not have an opportunity to find out from other sources. Even, they could not develop their own thoughts. Divergent question requires students build their own thinking. It means the questions given will bridge the students to develop their thinking. Of course, students’ responses will be wider because they are not provided on the book. This question also tends to create an active learning in the classroom because each student can state their answers differently, even they can respond each other. For example: “What do you think the characteristics of good question ” Students can respond that question as many as they can based on their background knowledge or experiences. ] (More)
