9. In this paragraph, at what time of day is the action taking place? A. Around midnight B. Around noon C. Around sunset D. Around sunrise
Except for a few pigeons, Central Park was deserted. Mist hung above the chilled grass. Patches of old snow, scattered here and there, looked like white puddles. [ The sun hung just above the horizon, casting red and orange streaks across low-hanging clouds. The portly, gray-haired gentleman jogging down the path looked out of place. For one thing, he was dressed in ordinary street clothes, not
a sweat suit. Also, every few seconds, he looked anxiously back over his shoulder. Coming closer to me, I saw that his face was flushed. He was panting, almost gasping. Abruptly, looking this way and that, he moved behind a tree. Seeming not to notice my presence, he stood with his back against the trunk, panting heavily. After a moment, he poked his head out to survey the path. It was still empty, except for a squirrel that dashed across the path like a furry dart. I checked my watch. It was now 7:30. Mentally marking the time, I aimed my camera toward the man's face. In this paragraph, time of day the action taking place is D. Around sunrise . Sunrise, the mist has not yet been burned off by the sun. Squirrels are energetic in the early am, and early evening. More mystery- what happened the night before. Noon won't work with the mist. Midnight will not work with the squirrel. It will be dark at 7:30 if there is snow on the ground all ready. ]

Which of the following lists demonstrates various tenses of an irregular verb? A. I try, I tried, I will try B. I call, I called, I will call C. I go, I went, I will go D. I walk, I walked, I will walk
Weegy: C. [ I go, I went, I will go The small spelling change in the past tense of "try" does not count as an irregular form. Try, call, and walk are all examples of "weak" verbs: all of their past-tense forms end in -ed, and their present and past forms are otherwise identical. "Strong" verbs have notable differences between present-tense and past-tense forms, such as 'go' and 'went'; 'teach' and 'taught'; 'am' and 'was'; etc. Their past forms have few, if any, -ed endings. ] (More)
