How does pretend play help the development of social/ emotional skills?
Weegy: pretend play helps the development of social/ emotional skills by: Social and Emotional Skills When your child engages in pretend (or dramatic) play, he is actively experimenting with the social and emotional roles of life. [ Through cooperative play, he learns how to take turns, share responsibility, and creatively problem-solve. When your child pretends to be different characters, he has the experience of "walking in someone else's shoes," which helps teach the important moral development skill of empathy. It is normal for young children to see the world from their own egocentric point of view, but through maturation and cooperative play, your child will begin to understand the feelings of others. Your child also builds self-esteem when he discovers he can be anything just by pretending! Weegy: I think that I may have found a link that could aid you in answering this writing prompt: User: ok thanks Weegy: Any other questions I can answer for you? User: yes Weegy: what is your question? User: What characteristics make some species more vulnerable to extinction, while others seem to thrive despite changes in their surroundings? Weegy: Extinction is rarely random across ecological and geological time scales. Traits that make some species more extinction-prone include individual traits, such as body size, and abundance. [ [ Substantial consistency appears across ecological and geological time scales in such traits. Evolutionary branching produces phylogenetic (as often measured by taxonomic) nesting of extinction-biasing traits at many scales. An example is the tendency, seen in both fossil and modern data, for higher taxa living in marine habitats to have generally lower species extinction rates. At lower taxononomic levels, recent bird and mammal extinctions are concentrated in certain genera and families. A fundamental result of such selectivity is that it can accelerate net loss of biodiversity compared to random loss of species among taxa. Replacement of vulnerable taxa by rapidly spreading taxa that thrive in human-altered environments will ultimately produce a spatially more homogenized biosphere with much lower net diversity. ] ] User: How do the extinctions of other creatures affect humans directly and indirectly? Weegy: If the animal is a staple in the diet of humans, it may have a direct impact on the diet of humans such as if the tuna went extinct. [ [ If the animal is not a staple, it may still have an impact due to the fact that it may be a key food source for another animal which is a staple of the human diet. If plankton went extinct, everything that ate them, such as most fish, would then go extinct. Just as if honeybees became instinct, the pollination of our crops and produce would cease. Beyond just eating ... (More)

In a short paragraph (5-7 sentences) describe a bald eagle and describe the basic reasons for its endangerment.
Weegy: Scientifically named as the Haliaeetus leucocephalus, the bald eagle is one of the most popular birds of prey. 'Bald' in archaic English refers to 'a creature bearing a white head', hence the name. [ Otherwise, in actuality, the bald eagle is not 'bald'. It is native to North America and is generally found near large water bodies which are home to a large number of prey and the surroundings of which provide an environment full of natural vegetation and mangroves where they can nest themselves properly. The bald eagle was once a common sight across entire North America, but it's population began declining at an alarming rate in the twentieth century, owing to various natural and human imposed changes. While their population was estimated to be around 300,000 to 500,000 in the 1700s, it fell drastically to around a 1,000 in the fifties. There were about 30,000 to 80,000 of nesting bald eagles when the bird was adopted as the national symbol of the United States in 1782. The following are the reasons why the species became endangered: Growth in human population made them hunt for newer lands in order to settle themselves. This resulted in deforestation on a large-scale which hampered the bald eagle's natural habitat which they eventually lost. There is an inverse relationship between the population of the humans and the population of the eagles. Excessive hunting and fishing by the ever-growing human population caused a shortage of prey, thus having an adverse effect on bald eagle numbers. Another important reason for the endangerment was reduction in the thickness of the egg shells, primarily caused due to the extensive use of DDT and other pesticides. This thinning of the egg shells caused them to break before they could hatch, thus resulting in a depletion of their population. Rampant illegal hunting, as well as poaching, also posed to be a major threat for their existence. The contamination of water and abundant use of harmful pesticides, added to the ... (More)
