Use the quadratic formula to solve the quadratic equation x2 - 8x - 4 = 0.
Weegy: ax^2 + bx + c. To solve this, you need to know the formula for a quadratic equation. This is -b + or - the square root of (b^2 - 4ac) ALL OVER 2a. [ From your equation you can see what a, b and c are based on the general form shown in the beginning of my explanation. So, a is 1, b is 8 and c is 12. Plug it into the latter formula to get....-8+or- square root of (8^2 - 4 (1)(12) ALL OVER 2(1). Now, just simplify to get -8 +or- sq rt (96) ALL OVER 2....simplify further to get your final answer. ] User: implify to get -8 +or- sq rt (96) ALL OVER 2 (More)

x^2 - 8x - 4 = 0; a = 1, b = -8, c = -4
x = [-b +/- sqrt(b^2 - 4ac)]/2a
= [-(-8) +/- sqrt((-8)^2 - 4(1)(-4)]/2(1)
= (8 +/- 4 sqrt 5)/2
= 4 +/- 2 sqrt 5

Simplify: ( y^-7 × y^-3 )^-1
Weegy: 6(y+7) = 0 then 6y+42 then 6y= -42 then y =-7 User: What is the mean of this data? 17, 34, 19, 27, 30, 23 (More)

( y^-7 × y^-3 )^-1
=(y^ -10 )^-1
= (1/y^10) ^-1
= y^10

The mean of 17, 34, 19, 27, 30, 23 is 25 .
( 17+34+19+27+30+23)/6
= 150/6
=25

y - 1 = -3(x - 9) is the equation of the line, in point-slope form, that passes through the points (9, 1) and (4, 16) .
the slope = (16-1)/ (4-9) = -3 , and then put (9,1) in y -1 = -3(x -9)
we can get the answer is correct .
