Gabriel. Muhammad was troubled by the fact that certain people were poor, orphaned, or had no financial protection. To ease his mind, he would retreat to a cave at Mount Hera to meditate. In 610 CE, during one of his meditation experiences, he reported seeing the archangel Gabriel, who told him to listen, to remember, and to recite what he heard.
