[ It is probably against this background that preventing students from writing the 2012 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) by some heads of Senior High Schools (SHS) for non-payment of school fees attracted so much media and public attention. In the second week of May, 2012, it was reported on Radio Ghana's current affairs programme Behind The News that the Headmaster of the Aburaman SHS (ABUSEC) in the Abura Asebu Kwamankese District of the Central Region of Ghana, had prevented candidates of this year?s WASSCE from writing some of the subject papers, for non-payment of school fees. Then on Friday, May 11, 2012, there were media reports that an Assistant Headmaster of the Kumasi Senior High Technical School (KSTS) has also presented candidates from writing the physics theory paper for the same reason.
