Question and answer
Q: 3 Describe ways to resolve any difficulties or dilemmas about the choice of food or drink.
A: why would there be difficulties or dilemmas, if they made the choice? I can see possible problems if you are going to invite them to your home. I would ask if they have any religious, medical, or allergic problems with certain foods or alcohol. [ Also, if they are on any special kind of diet. If you know they are a recovering alcoholic, do not cook with wine or sherry! If they are noticably
overweight, plan something delicious but without calorie-laden sauces, and something light for dessert (or cook with Splenda instead of sugar). If they are diabetic, ask what calorie count they are allowed for the meal, and plan a fresh-fruit compote for dessert! If they are allergic to nuts or shellfish, don't have them. If they are vegitarian, you could plan a meal without meat or chicken - ask if they are allowed eggs or cheese, and have a souffle'! Or, some vegitarians are allowed to have fish. To be safe, just in case some have gallbladder or cholesterol problems, avoid fried foods.Hope this is helpful. ]

User: Describe how and when to seek additional guidance about an individual’s choice of food and drink.

Weegy: The time to ask for guidance about individual's choice of food and drink will be at any point where one is unsure about making the right choices for the health of an individual but ideally before health begins to suffer. [ Guidance therefore should be sought proactively from a GP who will be able to refer you on to the right health care provider. ]

User: 1 Describe factors that help promote an individual’s dignity, comfort and enjoyment while eating and drinking.

Weegy: Keeping the lips and mouth moist. Gently massaging the skin using lubricants. Reminiscing about earlier times and happenings. Playing favourite music selections. Sitting in silence and sharing the time. Reading a book to [ your [ loved one. Praying with your loved one. Dry Mouth: A dry mouth can be relieved with wet swabs, ice chips or sips of cold drinks provided it is safe for your loved one to swallow. Apply lip balm to dry lips. Use mouth sponges/foam sticks frequently to gently clean the teeth, gums, inside of the cheeks and tongue. Mouth cares are important for comfort and dignity. Modifying food and fluid: Sometimes a person can continue to swallow safely by maintaining a certain position while eating or by changing to foods and fluids that are easier and safer to swallow. Tolerance of food generally progresses from solids to puree to liquids to ice-chips and spooned or sucked water. Ask to see a Speech Pathologist if you have any concerns about swallowing problems. Reduce amount: It is best to offer very small amounts of food and fluid (teaspoons). Safe positioning: It is safest for the person to eat in a fully upright position. ] ]
