Q: Determine whether the numerical value is a parameter or statistic. Explain your reasoning. For a certain movie 72 of 112 members of the audience were females.
A: A parameter is a measurement on the entire population. A statistic is a measurement on a sample. For example, if we measure the height of everyone in a some school X, and then we say: the average height in school X is such and such. [ That's a parameter. If instead we measure only some of the students' heights, that would be a statistic. in your case it is a parameter ]
