A: It is true, FUTA is an acronym for Federal Unemployment Tax Act. FUTA works in conjunction with state unemployment programs to provide unemployment benefits to individuals. [ Employers can receive credit towards the amount of FUTA due for state unemployment insurance payments made by February 1st of the following year by claiming the credit on line 10 of IRS Form 940.
