Multicultural literature includes literature about people who are considered to be outside of the mainstream of society and have been marginalized in some way. It focuses on people of color, from diverse cultural, linguistic and religious groups. Therefore, The Joy Luck Club by Amy Tan, Good Scent from a Strange Mountain by Robert Olen Butler, and The House on Mango Street by Sandra Cisneros are all examples of multicultural literature.
