A cake is a baked confection, typically round in shape, but can be made into any fancy shape for special occasions. The basic recipe is some combination of flour, eggs, fat, and sugar. Wedding and Christmas cakes have dried fruit such as raisins, currants, and glace cherries added, and also nuts. A cake is often decorated on top with icing (frosting) and may be cut in half and sandwiched together with a creamy filling.
