The convention decided to make a compromise between the New Jersey Plan and the Virginia Plan. What was the name of the plan? a. New York Plan c. Massachusetts Plan b. Connecticut Plan d. Florida Plan User: conneticut plan
Weegy: The Connecticut Plan/The Great Compromise After many a debate, Rodger Sherman proposed a plan based on the ideas from other plans that were well received. He called for three branches of government: Legislative, Executive, and Judiciary. [ The bicameral legislature would have a House of Representatives, where the members were elected by the people and the seats were given away based on population. To appease the small states, the other branch of legislature, the Senate, was based on equality, with 2 votes for every state. But, the small states still had less power because the large states would still have more representatives than the small states. The larger states therefor would have more influence when it came to the creation of laws on taxation and how money would be spent. The small states were then given the power to check House bills if they disagreed with them. The Executive Branch was to be headed by a single person, the president, but Congress had the power to impeach him. The Electoral College would elect the president and vice president. Even though the people had a general election, if the College elected a different leader than the general election, the winner of the College's election would become President of the United States of America. ] (More)
