User: The event that brought Eppie to Silas in Silas Marner was _____. a new job the death of her mother her husband's new job

Weegy: Eppie's mother, Molly, has tried to reach her husband, Godfrey's, home to reveal that they are secretly married to the rest of his family. However, she takes a draft of opium and dies in the snow outside of Silas' cottage. [ The baby is attracted to the fire inside and enters Silas' house. When he finally notices the little girl, he runs to Squire Cass' to report Molly's death, and Godfrey does not claim his daughter. Silas chooses to adopt the child. ]
