-LA's one of the most diverse cities in the world. There's so many different cultures, so many different nationalities. It's a really interesting place and you can learn a lot from the mix of people.
-The weather is beautiful. Temps are in the 70s during spring and fall, dip down to the 50s in winter, and vary from 70-100 in summer. There's no worries of snow, ice, etc.
-Lots of things to do. Take a stroll down Melrose on a warm Saturday, grab some lunch at Chinatown with friends, admire the homes in Beverly Hills, visit the Hollywood Walk of Fame, spend a day at the beach, spend an afternoon at a museum, have fun at a theme park... and more!
Cons:
-In the city, there's a ton of crime and pollution. Lots of drug dealers, etc.
-It gets pretty hot in the summer on some days. Last summer it jumped to 112 degrees one day. This year friends and family have told me it's a bit cool though.
-Yes, there's beaches, but some are dirty and crowded unless you know which ones to go to. Beaches farther south such as Newport Beach are gorgeous. Try going to the ones in less populated areas.
How to get the benefits of LA without all the bad stuff? Simple... live in the suburbs. 20-30 miles away from LA are plenty of residential areas that are much quieter and have way less crime. You can still make quick trips to LA whenever you need to, but you'll skip the crime, pollution, and in some cases the hot hot days!
