Russia tested its first in 1949, Britain in 1952, France in 1960, China in 1964, India in 1974, Pakistan in 1998, and North Korea in 2006. Other countries that possess them include Israel, while Iran, Syria and Myanmar are alleged. As more and more countries acquire them, the world tries to stay safe by creating treaties such as the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty in 1968 which limits the use and spread of nuclear weapons. Countries may choose not to sign, and India, Israel, Pakistan and North Korea are the four nuclear states to not sign it.
