Patient admitted for removal of malignant neoplasm of the kidney and ureter. Under general anesthesia, incision is made in the skin of the flank and carried down to muscles, fat, and membrane
overlying kidney. The kidney, ureter, and bladder are mobilized. The ureter, major blood vessels, and a small part of the bladder are severed and cut off, then removed through the flank incision. Controlled bleeding, bladder is sutured, catheterization and clamps removed. A layered closure is performed.
