Two years after HIPAA was enforced healthcare providers and patients are more aware of personal health information (PHI) privacy and security issues. What is your thoughts/
Weegy: With that, so kind of our overview of federal HIPAA enforcements. And, so this module, we?re going to talk about what the Official of Civil Rights does for its enforcement. Recall that we have civil money penalty enforcement. [ [ You may recall that, and?ll we?ll get into this later, but we haven?t done much in the way of imposing penalties, but we have done a lot of enforcement, and so we?re going to provide information on that. And, then the Department of Justice has its own criminal penalty enforcement. So, hopefully at the end of this module, be able to describe what OCR?s activities are and our Enforcement Rule Authority, Authority and also what the OJ does. So what ways does OCR enforce HIPAA? We?re going to talk about and get right into this complaints. We operate on a complaint-based system. All complaints that come in the door, we make a commitment to investigate, well, to review I should say. Investigate, we?ll get into that as a key distinction. We want to look at all the complaints to see is there?s a true allegation. There are certain parameters that we won?t be able to investigate. If a case, for example, is is old, if it is not a covered entity, if it is not a violation of The Privacy Rule, those are situations where we wouldn?t do or we wouldn?t pursue it?that. So, as you can see from this graphic though, our our receipts started off the 2003 was the first effective time. ] ] (More)

I have seen so many relationships torn apart because one person does not want some of the information shared and the other person continues to push. It is not just relationships between men and women, but also relationships between parents and their children. What is your thought?
Weegy: I believe that the key to relationships is trust, which requires communication. If someone doesn't want to talk about something, though, others should respect their wishes. (More)

Weegy: Here’s the trap I’ve seen too many women fall into: a woman keeps expressing to her husband how he is doing something (or not doing something) that is hurting her. [ Even after several such conversations, he doesn’t change —or he’ll change for a few days and then go back to his old habits, at which point the wife complains again. Still, no long-term change. The wife reads a book or attends a seminar and decides she needs to find a better way to communicate so she can get her message across, but even after this, there’s no permanent change. Her error is assuming that she’s not getting through. In point of fact, she is getting through to her husband—he may fully understand and be completely aware of her pain, but he’s not motivated by her pain. If he likes the marriage as it is, he’ll put up with an occasionally disagreeable conversation now and then. ] (More)

It seems that there have been some limits placed on marketing to doctors and healthcare organizations. I think that pharmaceutical representives are having to be increasingly innovative to even get in to most doctor's offices. What is your thought?
Weegy: Pharmaceutical marketing, sometimes called medico-marketing or pharma marketing in some countries, is the business of advertising or otherwise promoting the sale of pharmaceuticals or drugs. [ There is some evidence that marketing practices can negatively affect both patients and the health care profession.[1] Many countries have measures in place to limit advertising by pharmaceutical companies. Pharmaceutical company spending on marketing far exceeds that spent on research.[2][3] In Canada, $1.7 billion was spent in 2004 to market drugs to physicians; in the United States, $21 billion was spent in 2002.[4] In 2005 money spent on pharmaceutical marketing in the US was estimated at $29.9 billion with one estimate as high as $57 billion.[3] When the US number are broken down 56% was free samples, 25% was detailing of physicians, 12.5% was direct to user advertising, 4% on hospital detailing, and 2% on journal ads. Marketing to health care providers takes four main forms: gifting, detailing, drug samples, and sponsoring continuing medical education (CME).[3] Of the 237,000 medical sites representing 680,000 physicians surveyed in SK&A's 2010 Physician Access survey, half said they prefer or require an appointment to see a rep (up from 38.5% preferring or requiring an appointment in 2008), while 23% won't see reps at all, according to the survey data. Practices owned by hospitals or health systems are tougher to get into than private practices, since appointments have to go through headquarters, the survey found. 13.3% of offices with just one or two doctors won't see reps, compared with a no-see rate of 42% at offices with 10 or more docs The most accessible physicians for promotional purposes are allergists/immunologists – only 4.2% won't see reps at all – followed by orthopedic specialists (5.1%) and diabetes specialists (7.6%). ] (More)
