Explain why it is important to use language that is both age appropriate and ability appropriate when communicating with individuals with learning disabilities
It is important to note also that what is appropriate for one person might not be appropriate for another person, even if the two people have the same disability.
There are some people who, because of fear or discomfort, [ will avoid interacting with people with disabilities. Other people simply do not know what appropriate behavior is when around a person with a disability. Learning that people
with disabilities are fundamentally no different from people without disabilities helps reduce fear and avoidance.
