Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria (AMCON):

Functions of AMCON

AMCON shall perform the following functions in order to achieve its objects:

a. acquiring Eligible Bank Assets from Eligible Financial Institutions in accordance with the provisions of the Act

b. holding, managing, realizing and disposing of Eligible Bank Assets (including the collection of interest, principal and
capital due and the taking over of collateral securing such assets) in accordance with the provisions of the Act

c. paying coupons on, and redeeming at maturity, bonds and debt securities issued by the Corporation as consideration for the acquisition of Eligible Bank Assets in accordance with the provisions of the Act

d. performing such other functions, directly related to the management or the realization of Eligible Bank Assets that
the corporation has acquired

e. Corporation has acquired, including managing and disposing assets acquired with the proceeds derived by the Corporation from managing or disposing of Eligible Bank Assets acquired by it

f. taking all steps necessary or expedient to protect, enhance or realize the value of the Eligible Bank Assets that the
Corporation has acquired

g. performing such other activities and carrying out such other functions which in the opinion of the Board are necessary, incidental or conducive to the attainment of the objects of the Corporation.

Weegy: The West African Examination Council, (WAEC) yesterday released results of the May/June 2011 West African Senior School Certificate Examination, (WASSCE) with an abysmal 30 per cent of the candidates making credits in both English and Mathematics. [ [ Details of the result showed that the results of 81,573 candidates representing 5.29 per cent were withheld. Although the number of candidates who made credits in Maths and English was an improvement on last year's record of 25 per cent, education watchers contend that the result portends danger for Nigeria's future. The head of National office, Iyi Uwadiae who announced the result to newsmen at Indices Suite Garden, Abeokuta said a total of 472,906 candidates representing 30.99 had credit in both Mathematics and English language compared to last year where 337,071 candidates representing 24.94 per cent had credits in Mathematics, English and other subjects. Uwadiae stated that a total of 1,460,003 candidates representing 94.79 per cent had their results fully processed, while 80,247 candidates, representing 5.21 per cent had a few subjects still being processed due to various errors and omissions traceable to candidates. The head office maintained that a total of 1,540,250 candidates, consisting of 844,630 male and 695,620 female sat for the examination. Out of a total of 110 blind candidates who sat for the examination, 41 candidates representing 37.27 per cent obtained credit and above in five subjects. Uwadiae added, "618,924 candidates representing 40.55 per cent obtained credit and above in 6 subjects, 789,288 candidates representing 51.71 per cent obtained five credits and above while 943,187 candidates representing 61.80 per cent obtained credits in four subjects, whereas 1,084,817 candidates representing 71.08 per cent obtained credit and above in three subjects.
