5x – 13 = 3x + 3

5x - 3x = 3 + 13

2x = 16

x = 16/2 = 8

5x - 3x = 3 + 13

2x = 16

x = 16/2 = 8

If x + y = 7 and 2x – y = 2, then y = 4.

x + y = 7

2x – y = 2,

adding up equations the result is: 3x = 9,

x = 9/3 = 3

y = 7 - x = 7 - 3 = 4

x + y = 7

2x – y = 2,

adding up equations the result is: 3x = 9,

x = 9/3 = 3

y = 7 - x = 7 - 3 = 4
