@paral- I am quite familiar with the story of Moses and have read the book of Exodus many times. The Israelites did not tell their priest (Moses) to build them a gold calf. The Israelites rescued from Egypt in the Exodus lacked faith in God during the journey which caused problems such as rebelling against Moses and worrying about thirst and food. They did not want to go back to Egypt, but they did ask why they had left Egypt if they were going to starve in the desert.

Moses wasn't their priest. They had ther priest, the Levites that moses an The Lord appointed to them as moses was on the mount Sinai to receive the Ten Commandments from God. When he came down, he saw the golden calf, this was the point he threw down the commandments written in stone (the fragments of which are believed to be stored in the ark of the covenant).
I know most of them rebelled because they were starving, and hungry in the desert. Every time thy felt hardship, they would threaten to return to Egypt, by saying that they shouldn't have left. And this was the point that moses would rain miracles over them.
I guess everything just ties up to everything else, so I answered that all of the above we're correct. :)

The book of numbers talk about the exodus of the Israelites. In numbers 14:2 and 3, it mentions that the Israelites wanted to return to Egypt.
All the Israelites grumbled against Moses and Aaron, and the whole assembly said to them, "If only we had died in Egypt! Or in this wilderness! Why is the Lord bringing us to this land only to let us fall by the sword? Our wives and children will be taken as plunder. Wouldn't it be better for us to go back to Egypt?" (Numbers 14:2, 3 NIV)

Also if you listen to Keith green's So you want to go back to Egypt song (Keith green is a Christian singer, preacher, evangelist) it details all the answer to why the Israelites weren't allowed in Canaan.

I understand what you are saying, however the reason they were not allowed to go directly into the promised land was because they had not proved they believed in God. He tested them several times and each time they failed. I agree that because all of the above was not listed, the answer you gave is incorrect. I also think that the tests of faith that were failed were not reasons not to enter the Promised Land but a physical example of the lack of faith of the people.
