Tips for caring for a 3 year old: Routine is important, knowing what to expect and when to expect it can help prevent meltdowns. Talk to the child using your adult voice, baby talk just delays a child's speech development. Never leave a 3 year old unattended - accidents can happen so quickly. Give your child choices, but limit them - For example "Do you want apple slices or a banana?", Get down and play! Kids are young for such a short period. Even housework can be fun and you can get the child involved doing small jobs - he will feel a sense of accomplishment and you will be able to get more doen. Rest when the child rests, you are going to need the energy. Try to get outside when the weather is nice. Plan errands for times when your child is at his best, not nap time! Be flexible, plans sometimes need to change.
