User: What is the difference between a stream, a brook and a creek?

Weegy: I think that they were terms for the same thing that were used in different locations originally and came to be used more widely as people moved about the earth. Rivers? Streams? Creeks? They are all names for water flowing on the Earth's surface. As far as the Water Science site is concerned, they are pretty much interchangeable. I tend to think of creeks as the smallest of the three, with streams being in the middle, and rivers being the largest. site 1 A stream is a body of water with a current, confined within a bed and stream banks. Depending on its locale or certain characteristics, a stream may be referred to as a branch, brook, beck, burn, creek, gill (occasionally ghyll), kill, lick, rill, river, syke, bayou, rivulet, streamage, wash, run or runnel. site 2
