Weegy: I think that they were terms for the same thing that were used in different locations originally and came to be used more widely as people moved about the earth. Rivers? Streams? Creeks? They are all names for water flowing on the Earth's surface. As far as the Water Science site is concerned, they are pretty much interchangeable.
