During dangerous times in our history (American Revolution to 9/11), do you think that people have used critical thinking skills to protect themselves? In the alternative, do you think that people’s emotions and fear interfered with their critical thinking? What do you think people could do in dangerous situations to make sure they are using their critical thinking skills?
Weegy: During dangerous times, people rarely use critical thinking skills. There portion of the brain that is responsible for critical thinking shuts down when strong emotions of fear are present. [ This was important for survival when humans lived in the wild--if you stopped long enough to think you could be eaten, etc. If someone wants to think critically during a time of danger or when they are feeling fear, the first step would be to calm down and take control of the fear. This can be accomplished by deep breathing and becoming present to the fear you are feeling and why you are feeling it. ] (More)
