Make sure you understand the parameters of your paper - do you need both secondary and primary sources? Start online - LexisNexis, JSTOR, EBSCO are great places to research online for journals, articles and essays. Make sure you don't believe everything you read online; people make crap up all the time. Trust books and monitored journals. You may need to go to a Historical society, law library, etc... to find more in depth research. OUTLINE: you might want to create a loose outline right now, just to help you focus 3. Start reading through your material. highlight or otherwise mark relevant information in your source material (the books and articles you've gathered). Make sure you are only marking information that pertains to your research topic. STICK TO YOUR TOPIC/THESIS!!!! Otherwise you will have a ton of useless information in the end! 4.
