meet the requirements and to compare one candidate with another it can reduce bias in the recruitment and selection process by ensuring candidates are judged against criteria which are relevant to the job, and all candidates are judged systematically on the same criteria it helps to ensure that your selection decisions can be justified using objective criteria should they be called into question at a later stage once you have appointed a new employee, the person specification and job description can be used as the basis for staff development, appraisals, or promotion ]
