What is sentencing? How does sentencing influence corrections? How can corrections professionals improve sentencing so that it improves the correctional system overall?
Weegy: In law, a sentence forms the final explicit act of a judge-ruled process, and also the symbolic principal act connected to his function. [ The sentence can generally involve a decree of imprisonment, a fine and/or other punishments against a defendant convicted of a crime. Those imprisoned for multiple crimes, will serve a consecutive sentence (in which the period of imprisonment equals the sum of all the sentences), a concurrent sentence (in which the period of imprisonment equals the length of the longest sentence), or somewhere in between, sometimes subject to a cap. If a sentence gets reduced to a less harsh punishment, then the sentence is said to have been "mitigated". Rarely (depending on circumstances) murder charges are "mitigated" and reduced to manslaughter charges. However, in certain legal systems, a defendant may be punished beyond the terms of the sentence, e.g. social stigma, loss of governmental benefits, or, collectively, the collateral consequences of criminal charges. ] (More)

I think that it really depends on the crime, if the juvenile has committed murder or rape then yes the crime and the information of the juvenile should be on the news. I think in some case the juvenile may think its cool and they want to see them self's on the news and in the papers. But when it comes to them committing murder or rape I think that the public should know what they did and who they are so that they can be on the look out for them, because I know that I wouldn't want my child to ...
Weegy: I can definitely see what you are saying. [ If there were a way to specify when a juvenile's court proceedings and crimes were made public, I would tend to agree that any who have committed rape or murder should be treated as an adult and such, as I feel it is doing the community a disservice by not making them aware of the crimes and who committed them. For more minor crimes however, I feel the juvenile should be protected entirely. ] (More)

I think it's 50/50 on that seeing how some people are nosey and want to know everyone busyness, but at the same time I know that I would want to know mainly to protect my self and family. I really don't think that juveniles should have rights if they commit a capital crime like murder. Taking someone's life is not like taking a CD from a store and I feel that most teen's know what murder is so there is no reason them to think they can kill someone and get away with it. I also think that kids ...
Weegy: I think officials are thinking that juvenile delinquents should be given a chance to change themselves. [ Nobody is born a delinquent it just happens that they werent so lucky with the people and the environment that they grew up on but I still think that you have a point, considering that they are still the one's who made their choices in life. Is there anything that you would like to ask weegy? ] (More)
