Question and answer
what are three ways human activities increase the harmful effects of flooding?
Occasionally, floods occur unnaturally. These are usually the result of human activities. [ Such activities include: Blasting - this causes landslides in the slopes of hills and mountains which may result in the unintentional damming of rivers and streams. Construction of temporary dams - this produces an impediment to the flow of a river or stream which then results in an overflow; Failure
of hydraulic and other control structures - accidents like the breaking of a dike result in the entry of an enormous quantity of water in a protected area; and Mismanagement of hydraulic structures - control structures like dams which are utilized for various purposes are usually operated according to what is known as an "operation rule" and mismanagement which results in the violation of the rule may necessitate an untimely and sudden release of large amounts of excess water. ]

why should growth be limited in the southern states?
Weegy: What type of growth User: populations growth Weegy: Our earth is crowded and we are living unsustainably. The world population is estimated to be 6.8billion and will rise to between 8 and 9 billion by 2050. [ The more people there are the more resources they will consume and the more emissions will be created. According to the Optimum Population Trust, we are already well above the sustainable world population of 3billion. So to prevent global warming we must first tackle population growth. To do this there must be birth controls in all countries, especially in Africa, to first slow and then reverse the population explosion in these countries. This should equally apply to developed nations, although their population is not rising as fast they are mostly already too overcrowded. ] (More)

should government subsides be provided to farmers for improving irrigation efficency?
Weegy: Yes, they should. Humans group themselves together to form nations for one primary reason: There is safety in numbers. [ Humans were not meant to live alone. That being said, the governments who run these countries are responsible for all of it's civilian's well being. When a nations population gets to the point that not everyone is a farmer, then the government has a responsibility to make sure the non-farming population is well fed. If irrigation is a way of making a shrinking farming population, attempting to feed an entire nation, on a shrinking amount of land due to urban sprawl, then an incentive of some kind to make improvements to the land, such as irrigation, is needed. In my humble opinion, singling out farmers that receive subsidies is extremely myopic. Big Business in just about any country, receives some kind of subsidy from it's government. Examples are tax abatement's, low interest loans, Fannie May and Freddie Mac, not only helped people afford home ownership, it provided jobs to workers to build homes. Non of the above will deny that corruption exists in government at any form or level. There always has been, there always will be. Humans are just that way. ] (More)
