Question and answer
Q: 2 ways in which gender inequality/unequal power relations can contrite to the spread of HIV infections
A: Gender inequalities are a major driving force behind the HIV/AIDS pandemic, and are not exclusive to women. [ They reflect widely held beliefs, expectations, customs and practices within a society about what it means to be a “man” or “woman.” Depending on society?s perspective on it, gender can increase an individual?s vulnerability to HIV and influence his or her ability to access
information about preventive measures, care, support and treatment.Gender inequality is generated both by society?s written and unwritten norms, rules and understanding. Gender equality implies that the interests, needs and priorities of both women and men are taken into consideration. This includes decision making in the home, but also clearly defining needs, interests, and rights during the development and implementation of policy and lawmaking. Gender equality refers to equal opportunities for all people and equally valued work done by all, irrespective of their sex, identity, or sexuality. target=_blank rel='nofollow'>https://docs.google.com/viewer?a=v&q=cache:qEwecZ27-tsJ:' target=_blank rel='nofollow'>www.parliamentarystrengthening.org/HIVmodule/pdf/unit10.pdf+2+ways+in+which+gender+inequality/unequal+power+relations+can+contribute+to+the+spread+of+HIV+infections&hl=hu&pid=bl&srcid=ADGEESgonINiw5-Lcta_EgipvA8PFayZr8kNP-LnROowEtT0Ya8Lj7EP5O-V5MyVlobnwKTQ1LqIJbL-7D69Wcbtfm8pnMalEq_pAUMhSa5h4MzPxjK0k84oeFpnc3JySGH4ClSWwlKr&sig=AHIEtbTcXiP6Q5AwFcLJBewTjei3iGKN_g ]
