Why do you think so many manufacturers build computers without floppy disks?
Weegy: New computers no longer include floppy drives; CD/ROM drives and flash drives have replaced them.manufacturers and retailers progressively reduced the availability floppy drives and disks; widespread support for USB flash drives and BIOS boot [ support helped them. In February 2003, Dell announced floppy drives would no longer be pre-installed on Dell Dimension home computers, although still available as a selectable option and purchasable as an aftermarket OEM add-on.[9] On 29 January 2007, PC World stated that only 2% of the computers they sold contained built-in floppy disk drives; once present stocks were exhausted, no more standard floppies would be sold.[10] In 2009, Hewlett-Packard stopped supplying standard floppy drives on business desktops Read more: The Meaning of Floppy Drives | eHow.com ] (More)

If you are referring to the floppy drive and if I am going to build or assemble a computer, I will not include this floppy drive because, nowadays, flash drives and Blue Ray or DVD are more helpful than floppy disk. A floppy disk only has 1.44 mb capacity compared to flash drives. On the other hand, I still use this for creating bootable MS Dos and for installing SATA driver in older laptops. So it really depends.

1. Discuss at least three advantages of serial ATA over parallel ATA
Weegy: Among the most important advantages of serial ATA are the ability to hot swap drivers or devices, better airflow through use of the 7-wire cable, longer cable length (up to 1 meter for SARA instead of 18 inches for PATA), [ faster data transfer through serial bursts (eventual throughput speeds up to 600 MBps), and backward compatibility with PATA devices through the use of a SATA bridge. Your friend Blaine has a Pentium 4 computer with a 100MHz bus. Currently he has only an 80GB ATA/100 hard drive and a CD-RW drive. Because he's interested in video, he know he needs more storage and wants to add a second hard drive. What advice would you give him about selecting a new hard drive?
Weegy: I would direct him to buying a external hard drive. He could get a 1 TB hd for starters then if he wanted more he could get another one. Also I would up the ram in his computer if he could. (More)

Compare and contrast hardware and software RAID implementations.
Weegy: RAID Hardware is always a disk controller to which you can cable up the disk drives. [ RAID Software is a set of kernel modules coupled together with management utilities that implement RAID in Software and require no additional hardware.Software RAID is more flexible than Hardware RAID. Software RAID is also considerably less expensive. On the other hand, a Software RAID system requires more CPU cycles and power to run well than a comparable Hardware RAID System. Also, because Software RAID operates on a partition by partition basis where a number of individual disk partitions are grouped together as opposed to Hardware RAID systems which generally group together entire disk drives, Software RAID tends be slightly more complicated to run. This is because it has more available configurations and options. An added benefit to the slightly more expensive Hardware RAID solution is that many Hardware RAID systems incorporate features that are specialized for optimizing the performance of your system ] (More)
