After the greco-persian wars there were a period of peace, until Alexander the great showed up, he conquered the Persian Empire and took all it's treasures, burnt cities... He captured the Persian empire, The Seleucid empire was born. But he couldn't hold it for a long time only for about 20 Years, Later the Parthians (Northern Persian tribe) came and and retook ancient Persian lands from the east and the romans took the lands from the west and later the Persians and Romans fought with each other.
