Briefly describe the culture and identify three specific examples of how the kinship system of the chosen culture impacts the way this culture behaves (i.e. thinks, acts, lives).
Weegy: The San community is one long lasting band’s that has roamed from everywhere from the Arctic, desert, and rainforest for over thousands of years. They have a pretty basic diet that ranges from: nuts, melons, berries and meat. [ The women obtain the gathering of everything but the meat. This is for the men of communities to display their bravery and knowledge of hunting to bring in the meat by hunting: the land. Wealth is measured by family and hard work and not by material items. In these community’sfamilies, marriages, and kinship triumph all. These are the heavy backbones of the societies. The culture of the San’s state, “ there is a prohibition against marrying any relative who is a second cousin or closer”.(Nowak & Laird, 2010). Which is a quite different approach then other bands live by. Kinship is very key in the process of gathering because of the shared nature between households. The San share resources across the land with each other: permission is rarely turned away because of the kinfolk astrosphere. The approach to conflict with no laws in place is very crucial. There is not much conflict (or laws being broken) due to the small bands. But key on the list of conflict concerns are laziness, stinginess, improper food distribution, infractions of hospitality and poor etiquette. Without a elected “ruler” most disagreements are settled without tension; with cooler heads. ] (More)
