2. If plants need oxygen for cellular respiration, then why do plants release oxygen into the atmosphere? (1 point) More oxygen is produced during photosynthesis than the plant needs for cellular respiration, so the plant needs to release the extra oxygen. Plants need to collect more oxygen from the atmosphere because photosynthesis does not produce enough oxygen to meet their needs. Plants need to release oxygen into the atmosphere so more carbon dioxide can enter the plant for photosynthesis. ...
Weegy: Plants are living things and their metabolism constantly 'burns' food using Oxygen and producing CO2, they do this all the time, day and night. However, during the day plant is bombarded by photons (i.e. light). [ The light allows the plant to photosynthesise, turning CO2 and water into Hydrocarbons for food and releasing Oxygen. The amount of Oxygen produced is surplus to its metabolic requirements and is therefore released into the atmosphere. At night photosynthesis closes down because there is no light so the plant consumes oxygen and releases CO2 like animals. However, please note that there are a special group of plants (plants that live in desert climates) that have modified how and when they take up CO2. In this special group of plants (called CAM plants) the CO2 enters the plant at night and is stored by the plant in special structures. This stored CO2 is then used for photosynthesis during the day but the plant takes in no new CO2 during daytime. The CAM plants do this so as to prevent water loss during the hot daytime hours. ] (More)

4. Bryophytes must live in moist areas because they lack vascular tissue. For what other reason do they need to live in moist areas? (1 point) Bryophytes need the extra water for photosynthesis. The sperm of bryophytes need water to swim to an egg. Gas exchange is more efficient in wet areas. Without moisture, rhizoids cannot anchor the plants.

5. What is one reason that vascular plants are larger than nonvascular plants? (1 point) Vascular plants live in areas where they can get more water than nonvascular plants can. Nonvascular plants cannot live in as many areas as vascular plants, so they stay small. Nonvascular plants do not reproduce as quickly as vascular plants do, so they do not grow as large. Vascular tissue carries water and nutrients much more efficiently than can be carried by diffusion.
Weegy: non vascular plants have no interal "circulatory system" or any means of moving liquid and nutrients around their body. [ Therefore they need to grow low to the ground and in a moist environment in order to get their nutrients through osmosis through the ground. Vascular plants are able to get their nutirents delivered through the body through viens, allowing them to grow taller. ] (More)
