Question and answer
Is it possible to create a method of capital punishment that would actually deter murder? For example, by televising executions.
capital punishment will not prevent murder. [ Americans have had capital punishment in one form or another since America as a nation came into existence, yet the murder rate rises year on year and is actually higher in those states that permit capital punishment. Most murders are committed by somebody the victims know on a spur of the moment basis. Nobody is thinking about consequences at the
time. Serial killers and murderers of strangers are extremely rare and capital punishment does not deter these offenders because they know they have very little chance of being caught, and as there are psychiatric reasons behind the killings would more than likely not face the death penalty or are so ill as to not care about it in the first place. ]
