User: Explain the meaning of the term confidentiality

Weegy: Confidentiality means in secret to others. In today?s world the only way to keep things confidential, is if you keep it to yourself and no one else. [ If more persons than just you know, the confidence has been broken, there are no more people that can be trusted any more. ]

User: Describe the potential tension between maintaining and individual's confidentiality and disclosing concern.

Weegy: Confidentiality should where possible always be observed if your role is a privileged one eg, law, medicine, social services etc. [ However, where there is a duty of care, disclosure should take place specifically in relation to child protection, terrorism and duty of care to protect the individual. The dichotomy or tension is when you through your professional role know something, but it does not fall into the above category, and must therefore maintain professional confidentiality. ........... ]
