User: Solve by the substitution method 6(33 - 8y) + 5y = -17

User: Decide whether the pair of lines is parallel, perpendicular or neither 4x + 2y = 6 and 4x + 2y = 4

Weegy: Neither.For them to be parallel, they have to have the same slope. [ That's it. For them to be perpendicular, they have to have the opposite (which means if it's negative, turn it to positive, and if it's positive, turn it to negative) reciprocal (which means switching the denominator and numerator of the fraction) (For example, if we have 1/2 the opposite reciprocal would be -2/1.) So for this particular problem, we have to set each equation equal to "y". So. 1.4x + 2y = 7 2.2y = -4x + 7 3.y = -4/2 + 7/2 4. y = -2 + 7/2 For the next equation: 1. 2x + 4y = 10 2. 4y = -2x +10 3. y = -2/4 +10/4 4. y = -1/2 +10/4 So your two equations are: y = -1/2 +10/4 and y = -2 + 7/2 If they were parallel, they would have the same slope. They don't, so it's not parallel. If they were perpendicular, one slope would have the opposite reciprocal of the other slope. They aren't, so it's not perpendicular. ]

User: On three consecutive passes, a football team gains 7 yards, loses 37 yards and gains 33 yards. What number represents the total net yardage?

User: Find the slope if it exists x = -4

Weegy: The slope of x = -4 is undefined. It doesn't exist because x = -4 is a vertical line on the graph.

6x + 5y = -17
x = 33 - 8y
using the second equation to substitute x in the first equation:
6(33 - 8y) + 5y = -17
198 - 48y + 5y = -17
-43y = -17 - 198 = -215
y = -215/-43 = 5
x = 33 - 8(5) = 33 - 40 = -7
The solution for the system 6x + 5y = -17 x=33 - 8y is (-7, 5)

The lines 4x + 2y = 6 and 4x + 2y = 4 are parallel since they have the same slope -2.

-2x greater than 1/9
-2x > 1/9
x < 1/9 *(-1/2)
x < - 1/18
y - 1 greater than -17
y - 1 > -17
y > -17 + 1
y > -16

7[ 98 - (-35 - 48)]
= 7[ 98 - (-83)]
= 7[ 181 ]
= 1267
